What is a HEIC file?
HEIC is the photo format Apple uses by default on iPhone and iPad. It packs high-quality images into a much smaller file than JPG, which is great for storage but awkward to share.

iPhone
- Open the Photos app and select your HEIC photos.
- Tap the Share button, then choose Print.
- On the print preview, pinch outward on the photo to open it as a PDF.
- Tap Share again and save the PDF to Files.
Windows
- Open your HEIC photos in the Photos app (install the HEIF extension if prompted).
- Select Print, then choose “Microsoft Print to PDF” as the printer.
- Pick your layout and click Print.
- Choose where to save the PDF.
macOS
- Select your HEIC photos in Finder and open them in Preview.
- Go to File ▸ Print.
- Click the PDF dropdown at the bottom left and choose “Save as PDF”.
- Name the file and save.
